TB-500: peptide of the week

What is TB-500?

TB-500 is a synthetic fragment of thymosin beta-4, a 43-amino-acid protein found in almost every human cell.

How it works

Thymosin beta-4 binds actin, the protein that forms a cell’s internal scaffold, which influences how cells move and migrate into damaged tissue.

What researchers are studying

• ●Wound and corneal healing (thymosin beta-4)
• ●Cell migration and blood-vessel formation
• ●Cardiac injury models in animals

Where the evidence stands: Not approved by the FDA. Most published research uses full-length thymosin beta-4 rather than the TB-500 fragment. Prohibited in sport by WADA.
